New Delhi/UNI: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin share a relationship of great trust and confidence and both sides are looking forward to some very significant outcomes from the bilateral Summit on Monday.

In his opening remarks while meeting his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov here, ahead of the inaugural 2+2 meeting, Jaishankar said that this was his fourth meeting this year with Lavrov, which is symbolic of the special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia.

“Today we have an opportunity not only to discuss our bilateral ties and global situation but we will also be participating in the first 2+2 meeting,” he said.

Lavrov said he would like to reaffirm what Jaishankar said about the nature of Russia-India relationship.

He said “significant documents” have been drafted for signing following the meetings today.

Ahead of the meeting, the EAM in a tweet said: “Pleased to welcome Russian FM Sergey Lavrov.

“Look forward to a good discussion on our bilateral cooperation and the global situation. Will also be participating in the first 2+2 meeting thereafter.”
