#LokSabhaElection2019: Rahul Gandhi targets Mamata Banerjee, Mausam Noor during Malda rally

"The torture people faced during the time of CPI-M is the same as faced by people today under the tenure of Mamata Banerjee-led government," Gandhi said.

Highlighting what the Congress will do if voted to power, Gandhi said: "We will lay down a network of government colleges and universities for high-quality, affordable education."

He said the real GST will be implemented by his Congress party if it comes to power at the Centre.

"Gabbar Singh Tax has destroyed small businesses. We will reform it to implement real GST- a simple and minimum tax," he said.

Malda is an important seat for the Congress as it has dominated in the region over the years.

However, the party received a jolt recently when its leader Mausam Noor joined Mamata Banerjee's TMC.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Noor has been fielded from  Malda (North) seat by the TMC.

Gandhi targeted her and said: "Here you have always voted for the Congress party. However, this time, one person has betrayed you. Remember this, don’t forget that a former Congress candidate has betrayed you.”
