Lok Sabha poll: Three poll officials die during polling duties in HP

Shimla, May 19 (UNI) Three Election officials have been killed during Election duties till Saturday in road accident and others reason, senior officials of state election department confirmed here on Sunday.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Daleep Negi informed that Mr Vaneet Kumar Post graduate Teacher and presiding officer belonging to Government Senior Secondary school Sapri in Kinnaur district died in a road accident on Thursday when he was going for his election duty at Kalpa.

Dev Kumar, a Home Gaurd jawan, hailing from Village Chandra of Arki subdivision in Solan district and a Junior Technician Lot Ram, resident of Sagita village of Manali Tehsil of Kullu district died in different road accident on Saturday, May 18.

Expressing deep condolences Mr Negi informed that the ECI would pay an Ex-gratia assistance of Rs 15 lakh each to next of the kin of deceased as per Election manual.

Including 25000 security personnel about 46000 staff employees were conducting the polling in the state today to begin from 0700 hrs.
