Life in Kashmir returns to normal after three days of restrictions
Srinagar, May 9 (IBNS) : Life in the Kashmir Valley returned to normal on Wednesday after three days of prohibitory restrictions, imposed by authorities and strike called by separatists after the killing of five civilians in firing by security forces near the encounter site in Badigam Shopian on Sunday.
Unprecedented security arrangements had bee in place in the valley since Sunday as it remained paralyzed for three-days.
Security forces killed five militants, including Hizbul Commander Saddam Padder and 36 hour old Kashmir University Assistant- turned-militant Mohammad Rafi Mir in Badigam village of Shopian in South Kashmir. Five people were also shot dead and dozens injured near the encounter site as a section of local people clashed with forces while protesting against the operation.
On Tuesday, separatists called for resuming normal life from Wednesday and appealed to the people to register their protest by putting up black flags on vehicles and offer funeral prayers in absentia across valley.
As a result of the contiuning protests, authorities ordered closure of educational institutions across the valley. However classes up to high school level are being held.
Meanwhile, Train services, which remained suspended for three days, resumed in Kashmir on Wednesday, a railway official said.
