Left, Congress jointly protest against CAA in Kolkata

Kolkata/IBNS: Seventeen Left parties and Congress jointly held a protest rally against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), which was passed by the Narendra Modi government at the Centre recently, in Kolkata on Friday.

Several top leaders of the political parties including West Bengal Congress president Somen Mitra participated in the rally.

Apart from Mitra, Left leaders like Surjya Kanta Mishra and Biman Bose also joined the rally.

The rally started from Subodh Mullick Square and ended near Mahajati Sadan at Mahatma Gandhi Road.

Over the last couple of weeks, Kolkata witnessed several anti-CAA protests with majority of them held by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
