Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Minister and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim stressed on electric vehicles and CNG fuel at a conference organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) here on Wednesday.

Hakim said, "Electric vehicles are our future which will lead to a safe and sustainable environment and that is the main focus of the State government currently.

"Also, given the rise in petrol-diesel prices, we must shift our focus to biofuel rather than fossil fuel. This would lead to a carbon emission-free environment without being a hindrance to urbanization. We are also focused on taking E-Governance to its zenith."

Along with Hakim, West Bengal Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya was also present at the conference.

Bhattacharya said, "Governance for growth has always been our main motto. We could proudly say that investors are coming to Bengal due to this reason and on the other hand West Bengal holds 14% of the MSME segment in India."
