Kolkata/UNI: A Gujarati couple, identified as Ashoke Shah (56) and his wife Rashmita Shah (52), were found murdered inside their Bhabanipur flat in the city, police investigating the brutal double homicide said on Tuesday.

The couple were found at their Harish Mukherjee Road flat Monday evening with wounds from sharp weapons and bullet holes in south Kolkata where city Mayor and minister Firhad Hakim and Police commissioner Vinit Goel visited.

The crime spot was not far from the home of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Bhabanipur police station.

Banerjee, who is now currently visiting the north Bengal districts, reportedly phoned the city police chief directing him to arrest the killer as fast as possible.

One of the daughters of the couple, who arrived last evening, found one of the entry doors open and her parents dead with multiple wounds.

There were marks of fighting with household goods, which were littered, almirah was open and ornaments of her mother like bangles and rings were missing.

Sniffer dog was used to track the possible killer and forensic experts took samples from the scene of double murders.

Hakim said the killer would not be spared and would be arrested soon as the city police has expertise and it is the second after Scotland Yard.
