Kolkata: CBI's office at Nizam Palace sealed after its senior official tests positive for COVID-19

Kolkata/IBNS: After a senior official of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday, the office of the central probe agency at Nizam Palace in south Kolkata's AJC Bose Road area has been temporarily sealed for disinfection and sanitization processes, officials said.

According to sources in the CBI, the office of its Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), which is located on the 14th and 15th floors of Nizam Palace, has been closed and its officials have been asked to work from home until further notice.

 "Besides five family members of the Covid infected officer, 22 more officials of the ACB, who reportedly came in close contact with the senior sleuth in last 10-14 days, have been asked to go into home quarantine and all of them will undergo Covid-19 test," a CBI official said.

"Our contact tracing is still on to track all the persons came in contact with the officer recently," he added.

Sources in Nizam Palace said that all other Central government offices, which are located at the premise, and the entire compound will be sanitized in the next few days.
