Kolkata, Nov 5 (IBNS): A major fire, which broke out at an eight-storey office building in Kolkata's Park Street area on Monday morning, has been brought under control, reports said.

According to reports, the fire was first seen at around 11 am inside the Apeejay House's server room, which is located on the fifth floor of the multi-storey office building. The fire then spread to adjoining areas of the floor very quickly.

As many as ten fire tenders along with a hydraulic ladder, local police and Disaster Management Group (DMG) personnel rushed to the scene and firemen fought for nearly two hours to douse the massive blaze.

"The fire has been arrested and our men are currently continuing cooling off process at the building," a fire officer told IBNS.

Fire and emergency services officials said that anyone was neither trapped inside the house nor injured in the incident.

"All employees of the office building were evacuated safely and none was either0 trapped inside the multi-storey or hurt in the fire incident," the fire official added.

However, local police and fire department have initiated investigation into the reason behind the fire.
