Kolhapur: 3 students killed in car accident

Kolhapur, Apr 30 (UNI) Three collegians were killed and two others seriously injured, when their car was hit by a speeding container from the rear near Harli-Budruk village of this district, police said on Tuesday.

According to Gadhinglaj police, the incident took place on Monday night when the students of Sant Gajanan Maharaj Polytechnic college of Majalgaon were returning to their hostel after meeting their friend in Nesari village.

They were halting at Ichanal phata near Harli-Budruk to take a bio break when a speeding container rammed their car from behind killing three on the spot and seriously injuring two others. The injured were rushed district hospital in Gadhinglaj.

The deceased were identified as Suraj Bharmal Patil from Belgaum, Vishal Pandurang Patil from Gokul-Shirgaon in Kolhapur district and Suraj Bharmal Tippe, from Tamnakwada in Kagal tehsil of this district.

The injured were identified as Sandesh Sadashiv Tippe and Ajinath Khude.

A case was registered against the container driver, who fled the scene, they added.
