Kolkata, Jun 12 (IBNS): A six-year-old boy was seriously injured in a crude bomb explosion in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district on Monday morning, reports said.

According to reports, the infant, Shyamsundar Das, was playing on the terrace of his neighbour's house at Sonakhali under Basanti Police Station area. When he touched a crude bomb, which was stored there, it suddenly went off.

The boy was rushed to Canning Sub-Division Hospital and later shifted to a Kolkata hospital after his health condition deteriorated.

"We went to the scene later and recovered more two crude bombs from the terrace," a local police official told IBNS. "We are suspecting that the kid tried to play with the bomb as he thought it was a ball."

Police have started a probe into the matter and detained two persons in connection with the case.
