Kathua rape and murder case verdict likely to be delivered today

New Delhi, June 10 (IBNS): A special court in Pathankot is likely to deliver its verdict in the alleged rape-and-murder case of an eight-year-old nomadic girl in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua area that had left the nation shocked.

The trial had started in April 2018.

It concluded on June 3.

The trial took place against seven people, out of the eight accused in the case.

The trial of the  juvenile has not started so far.

The petition on the age of the juvenile is yet to be heard by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court.

The incident, in which eight-year old victim was allegedly raped, mutilated and murdered by eight men inside a temple in Rassana area of  Heeranagar, created an uproar across the country.

The incident occurred in January 2018. The accused were arrested in the same year.

The victim belonged to the nomad Bakarwal community. She was missing and later her body was recovered by the villagers a km away from the village.
