Srinagar, Dec 25 (IBNS) Welcoming the meeting between Indian PM Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif, Kashmirs Chief Clerk and Hurriyat Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday called it a “peaceful step” between two neighboring countries.

“Modi’s surprise visit to Pakistan a positive move, people of Kashmir welcome any opportunity that bring India Pak close”, Mirwaiz Farooq further said, “political will & Vision needed on all sides to address issues specially Kashmir,”.

Former J&K CM Omar Abdullah said, "Indo-Pak relations have been plagued by knee-jerk reactions & a lack
of consistency. Looking towards two PMs to correct this time."

“Re-engagement with Pakistan was a good step and a very welcome development. “However more than grand gestures we need consistency,” Omar said.

“Now waiting for the statement from J&K Govt claiming that Mufti Syed was the one who forced PM Modi to visit Lahore today,” said Omar.

Meanwhile, Abdul Gani Bhat, head of Muslim Conference, a constituent of the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq  Hurriyat, said his party supports the resumption of dialogue process between India and Pakistan.
