Srinagar/UNI: Security forces on Thursday launched Cordon and Search Operations (CASO) in several villages in south Kashmir district of Shopian, official sources said.

They said on a tip-off about presence of militants, troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint CASO in several villages, including Saf Nagri and Zainapora in Shopian.

All exit points were sealed by security forces early this morning despite sub zero temperature. 'Later security forces conducted house-to-house searches,' they said, adding that so far no contact was established with the militants.

The operation was on when the reports last came in, they added.
