Kashmir: Militants plan to make IEDs foiled, five arrested

Srinagar, Jun 19 (UNI): Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have foiled a plan to make Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to target security forces when they arrest five suspected militants and recovered explosive material in south Kashmir district of Shopian, official sources said on Wednesday.

They said on a tip off that some persons are making IEDs police teams conducted raids at several places in Zainpora of Shopian district late Tuesday night.

During the raids five suspected militants identified as Rayees Ahmad Ganie, Aqib Nazir Rather, Sameer Mushtaq Bhat, Faisal Farooq Bhat and Amir Nazir Wani were arrested.

They said explosive material which was being used to make IEDs have also been recovered.

Police have registered a case under FIR number 39/2019 under section 16,18, 38, 39 Unlawful Activities (Prevention Act) and taken up the further investigation, they added.
