Kashmir: Ex-Army captain shoots wife in Bandipora

Srinagar/UNI: A retired Army captain critically wounded his wife when he allegedly shot her during a heated argument in north Kashmir district of Bandipora.

Official sources said that a heated argument broke out between Ghulam Hassan Khan, a retired army captain, and his wife in village Sumlar in Bandipora late last night.

"The son of the couple tried to pacify the situation, but Khan in the fit of rage grabbed his 12 bore gun and fired at his wife," they said.

They said the woman, identified as Fatima Begum, received critical injuries to her head.

"She was immediately taken to a local hospital from where she was referred to SHMS hospital in a critical condition," they said.

They said a case has been registered and investigation has been initiated into the incident.
