Srinagar, Aug 26 (UNI) A driver was killed in a stone pelting incident in south Kashmir district of Anantang, official sources said on Monday.

The deceased, identified as Noor Mohammad, was hit by a stone on his head during a stone pelting incident in Anantnag, late on Sunday evening.

Noor was immediately taken to a hospital, where he succumbed. ''After completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives for last rites,'' they said, adding that police has registered a case and initiated investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, uneasy claim prevailed in Kashmir valley as shops and business establishments remained closed since August 5, though a good number of vehicles were plying on some roads, particularly in uptown and civil lines in Srinagar.
