Kashmir: Anantnag operation enters day 6, massive combing op. launched to flush out hiding militants

Srinagar/UNI: Security forces continued the search operation in the dense woods of Anantnag on the sixth day on Monday.

There had been no firing from either side since last evening at Gadol Kokernag and security forces continued combing operations in the area, officials said.

There was no report of any militant casualties so far.

The operation has been going on since Wednesday after two decorated Army officers, Colonel Manpreet Singh, Commanding Officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles, his company commander, Major Aashish Dhonchak, also from the 19 RR, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Himayun Muzamil Bhat, were killed and two other soldiers were injured in a gun battle in the area.
