Kashmir: 2 militants killed in Awantipora

Srinagar/UNI: The security forces Monday shot dead two militants at Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

The fighting took place in the Wandakpora area during a cordon and a search operation.

"As the security forces cordoned the suspected spot, the hidden terrorists opened fire, triggering a gunfight," an official said.

"In the gunfight, two terrorists have been killed."

Police said the operation was in progress.

Earlier, police said a top Jaish-e-Mohammad militant was trapped in Awantipora.

He was identified as Kaiser Koka, who has been active since 2018, Additional Director General of Police Vijay Kumar said.
