Karnataka Assembly polls: Counting of votes on, Congress marginally ahead
Bangalore, May 15 (IBNS): Counting of votes for the Assembly polls in Karnataka has started with the ruling Congress marginally leading against rival Bharatiya Janata Party, as per early trends on Tuesday.
In 67, out of 222 seats where results will be declared on Tuesday, Congress is leading in 30 seats while the BJP is ahead in 23. JDS are ahead in 14 seats,
Voting for the 222 Assembly seats in the states were held on Saturday.
Voting was not held in two seats.
State Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is leading from Badami seat.
Karnataka had witnessed massive pre-poll campaigning by Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the BJP.
Karnataka is one of the few states where the Congress is still ruling.
