JP Nadda kicks off BJP campaign in Kerala, attacks LDF govt

Thrissur/UNI: BJP President JP Nadda on Thursday lambasted the ruling Left Democratic Government of Kerala, saying it had lost the moral right to continue as many of its ministers and even the Speaker have come under the scanner of corruption.

Turning to the Congress, he said it is facing ideological bankruptcy and that is why the party is hobnobbing with the CPM in West Bengal while fighting against it in Kerala.

Kicking off the BJP’s election campaign in the state, the BJP chief said the Keralites have lost all self-respect in and outside due to the gold scam involving top officials of the LDF government.

"If the previous Congress government was interest in solar business, the Pinarayi government was favouring gold smuggling. The people of Kerala is fed up and it is time now to throw both the parties out of power," he said addressing a huge gathering at the sprawling Vadakunathan temple maidan.

The BJP chief said several ministers of the LDG government were involved in corruption cases.

"It was strange that even the Speaker’s name found in the gold smuggling case. This has brought disgrace to the entire people of Kerala," he said.

He did not spare the opposition Congress saying the party which was silent on the Sabarimala issue, now says it will bring law to settle the matter which is still before the Supreme Court.

Elaborating various assistance given to the state by the Centre, he said the central finance commission has allotted a substantial amount for the development.

Earlier, he had discussions with state BJP leaders on the preparations for the coming assembly polls.

Nadda who arrived in Thiruvanthapuram on Wednesday, reached Thrissur today to address the public meeting.
