Kolkata/UNI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Jagat Prakash Nadda arrived here on a two-day visit to boost up the outfit's organisation of West Bengal, a first of the leader's itinerary after being chosen to lead the saffron brigade in the 2024 General Elections.

Leader of the Opposition and Nandigram BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari described Nadda's visit as "It shows his commitment towards the Karyakartas of West Bengal."

BJP's national executive on Tuesday asked Nadda to carry on the leadership until the national general elections in June 2024.

The term of Nadda who took over the party's top post from Amit Shah in 2020 was scheduled to end in January.

Nadda was received at the city airport last night by BJP's state president Sukanta Majumdar, Suvendu Adhikari, Rahul Sinha and other senior leaders.

According to an itinerary, Nadda would offer prayer at the ISKCON temple at Nabadwip this morning and then address an open rally of the party at Bethuadahari Jr East Bengal ground this noon (Nadia district).

He would also meet party leaders to have first-hand information about the state and advise them about the party programmes for the 2024 Parliament elections.

Nadda's visit is also a part of the central leadership's 'Pravas' campaign to strengthen its organisation in 144 Lok Sabha constituencies across the country that the party had lost by a slender margin in the 2019 elections.
