J&K: Terrorist killed in encounter with security forces

Srinagar, Oct 28 (IBNS): A terrorist was killed on Tuesday during an encounter with security forces in Wadarbala forest area in the Handwara town of north Kashmir's Kupwara district.
Acting on an intelligence input, forces of Army, SOG and police launched a joint operation in the area to nab three suspected terrorists hiding in the area.
 
The search operation commenced on Monday night but contact with the terrorists was established on Tuesday morning.
 
The militants then opened fire at the forces, who retaliated as a result.
 
One militant was killed in the encounter, whose identity has not yet been established.
 
Security forces have cordoned off the area.
 
According to army sources, the search operation will commence again on Wednesday morning to nab rest of the terrorists.
 
 A junior commissioned officer of army was also injured during the encounter, who later succumbed to his injuries.
