Sopore, Nov 25 (IBNS): One local LeT militant has been apprehended during a joint search operation conducted by the Army and police in Sopore town of North Kashmir.

The search team recovered arms and ammunition from the militant and also from the site, sources said.

"On a tip-off,  we launched a  search operation on Thursday evening in Tujar village of Sopore Town in North Kashmir to flush out the
militants. In the meantime, one militant, Abdul Majeed Mir, started firing on security forces," a senior police official said.

"However, he was apprehended," the official added.

According to reports, Majeed joined militancy ranks a month ago and was affiliated with an  LeT group.

On Nov 4, police apprehended Omar Khalid Mir  from the same village, along with arms and ammunition.

He was a close aid of Sameer Wani, who was killed in Kupwara encounter in July.
