Jharkhand: Clash between two groups during victory procession in Katras of Dhanbad

Dhanbad, May 24 (UNI) Situation became tense in Rampujan Nagar of Katras of this district following clash between two groups during the victory procession which was taken out to celebrate the win of NDA candidate from Giridih Lok Sabha seat Chandraprakash Chowdhary.

Both the groups had clashed yesterday night also but somehow the situation was prevented from flaring by intervention of the police. However today once again people burnt tires and indulged in protest after which police resorted to lathi charge to clear the mob. The people also indulged in stone pelting but were made to run away by the police.


Upon receiving information, Dhanbad SSP Kishore Kaushal, Rural SP Aman Kumar and other senior officials including DC A Dode reached on the spot and inquired into the incident.

 

The situation was stated to be under control police said adding that additional police personnel have been deployed in the area.
