JD(U) candidate shot at in Manipur two days ahead of assembly election

Imphal/UNI: Wahengbam Rojit, Janata Dal-United (JD-U) candidate of Kshetrigao Assembly constituency in Manipur, was shot at on Sunday by unknown armed persons two days ahead of polls.

He has been rushed to a private hospital in a critical state. A Large number of people have gathered at the hospital Raj Medicity to enquire about Rojit's health, condemning the incident and demanding action against those involved in the attack.

Kshetrigao is among 38 constituencies where voting is scheduled to be held on Monday in round one of the two-phase Manipur Assembly polls.

Security was beefed up in the hospital and Kshetrigao constituency considering the attack.
