JD (S) MP Prajwal Revanna expresses desire to resign

Mandya, May 24 (UNI): The newly elected Lok Sabha member, Prajwal Revanna, who was declared elected as the JD(S) candidate in the Hassan Lok Sabha seat, on Thursday, have decided to quit the membership in favour of his grandfather and former Prime minister H D Deve Gowda.

Speaking to newsmen here, Prajwal Revanna, who was upset with the defeat of Deve Gowda in Tumakuru Lok Sabha seat, have told that he has decided to resign to the Lok Sabha and make way for his Grandfather.

Prajwal Revanna, in his maiden attempt to Lok Sabha had registered a resounding victory against his nearest BJP candidate A Manju by a margin of over two lakhs.

He said "The decision to quit the Lok Sabha seat is of my own and did not had talks with any other members of my familly."

However Prajwal, was not in a mood to relish his victory as his grandfather Deve Gowda had to bite dust in the Tumakuru Lok Sabha seat, where he had lost the elections to the BJP candidate G S Basavaraju by a slender margin of over 12000 votes.

Deve Gowda had allowed his grand-son Prajwal Revanna to contest in Mandya, in which he had got elected for five terms to the Lok Sabha, before deciding to migrate to the neighboring Vokkaliga dominated Tumakuru seat.

Prajwal's halfbrother, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, who is also e son of the Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, had also lost in a fiercely contested Lok Sabha elections in Mandya Lok Sabha seat, to an independent Candidate

Sumalatha by a margin of over one lakhs.
