Jammu Kashmir Government approves land allotment for landless PMAY(G) beneficiaries

The Government of Jammu Kashmir has given the green light to a proposal allowing the allotment of 5 Marlas of land to landless beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme.

This landmark resolution was passed by the Administrative Council on June 21, 2023. Initially, the allotment will focus on addressing the remaining cases from the Permanent Waiting List (PWL) of 2018-19, Good Morning Kashmir.

However, it may later expand to encompass similar categories of landless beneficiaries who qualify for housing assistance under PMAY-G Phase-III, which is set to launch in 2024-25. The allotment will be based on the respective categories outlined in Jammu Kashmir's revenue laws.

In response to this development, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha expressed his enthusiasm, remarking, "It is a historic day for Jammu Kashmir and a new beginning for thousands of landless families."

"This historic decision will prove to be a golden chapter in Administration's effort for social justice, equality, respect, and equal opportunities to all citizens."

He further emphasized that this path-breaking decision would not only grant landless individuals the chance to own property and have a home but would also enhance their livelihood prospects, elevate their living standards, and fulfill their dreams and aspirations.

The Lieutenant Governor underscored the government's commitment to inclusive development, stating, "The poor section of society is at the center of government policies, and a substantial population that has been deprived of basic facilities and rights even after seven decades of Independence is now being brought into the mainstream of development."

He went on to highlight the administration's recognition of the immense contributions made by the underprivileged and downtrodden in the nation-building process.

This significant decision by the Jammu Kashmir government is expected to create boundless opportunities for the impoverished and marginalized segments of society, empowering them and paving the way for a brighter future.
