Srinagar, Mar 29 (UNI) Two militants were killed and five security force personnel were injured in an encounter which ensued on Friday morning in the central Kashmir district of Badgam.

Official sources said that troops of Rashitriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint search operation at Chatergam, Badgam, in the wee hours today.

All the exit points were sealed and house to house searches launched, they said adding when the security forces were moving towards a particular area in the village, militants hiding there opened indiscriminate fire in which five security personnel were injured.

Later, security forces also retaliated and in the fierce encounter two militants were killed, sources said adding the operation was going on when the reports last came in.

Meanwhile, authorities suspended high speed internet in Badgam and parts of Srinagar as a precautionary measure to prevent rumours.
