Jammu and Kashmir to commemorate October 22 as Horror Day: Sajjad Raja

"No to Pakistani occupation. People of #Jammu & #Kashmir shall commemorate 22 October as the #Horror Day. We deplore Pakistani invasion of 22 October 1947 & shall tell the world that our #Resistance shall not stop until & unless we reunite our divided #Motherland," Raja tweeted.

Reacting to the 'Black Day' posters put up across Srinagar city for the first time in the history of the region, the activist tweeted: "22 October 2020 - Sirinagar. On 22 October 1947 people of Sirinagar formed the National Guards to defend their city against the Pakistani Tribal Invasion & today once again Sirinagar is on the frontline to denounce the Tribal Invasion of 1947. We stand with Sirinagar."

Jammu and Kashmir witnessed yet another episode of history making as locals for the first time put up hoardings in different areas of summer capital Srinagar to commemorate the ‘Black Day’ (Oct 22, 1947) of the region, marked by the brutal invasion by Pakistan over seven decades ago and the mindless atrocities committed on the people.

The day is being observed at a time when Jammu and Kashmir, now a union territory, is observing the first anniversary of the scrapping of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Article had given special status to the former state which was turned into a union territory by New Delhi following its bifurcation.
