At least one soldier was injured after an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Monday.

The Indian Army, in a joint operation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, launched "Operation Lasana" in the Lasana area of Surankote, India Today reported.

The Indian Army said the contact was established with the terrorists while the operation began, leading to an exchange of fire.

The operation was launched after security forces noticed some suspicious activities in the region.

Sharing an update on the encounter, White Knight Corpse wrote on X: "Contact was established with #terrorists during a joint #operation with @JmuKmrPolice at #Lasana, #Surankote last night. Additional troops have been inducted, and search operations are ongoing to prevent the terrorists from escaping."

A search operation is currently underway in the area.
