Srinagar: A recently-joined militant was arrested in an injured condition after a brief encounter in Kashmir on Friday, police said.

They said the encounter took place at Langate, Handwara in frontier district of Kupwara.

"A recently-joined terrorist was arrested in injured condition after an encounter," a police officer said, adding that search was still going on in the area to trace his another accomplice.

The arrested militant was identified as Abrar Hassan, resident of AzadGunj Baramulla, said the police officer, adding that arm and ammunition were recovered from him.

"Earlier, he was a stone pelter and there were two FIRs against him. Later on, he started working as an overground worker," added the officer.
