New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) The Income Tax Department on Sunday seized Rs 9 crore during the searches carried out at around 50 places in New Delhi and Bhopal, including the residence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath’s close aides – Pravin Kakkar and Rajendra Miglani in connection with alleged tax evasion.

The searches were carried out by around 300 IT sleuths at around 0300 hrs at Kakkar’s residence in Indore and Miglani’s in Green Park, New Delhi and Bhopal, sources said here.

Kakkar is former Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of Nath.

He had assumed the charge of OSD when Mr Nath sworn-in as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. However, he resigned from the post soon after the 2019 general elections were announced. Kakkar had taken a voluntary retirement from the police service a few years ago.

Miglani is former advisor of Nath. He had also resigned recently for managing elections in Chhindwara.

The sources said besides Kakkar and Miglani, raids were also conducted on the premises of Nath’s relatives Ratul Puri and his company Amira Group and Moser Bear.

The properties of Kolkata-based businessman Paras Mal Lodha were also searched in which documents were seized and being examined.
