IPS Vineet Goyal appointed as new Kolkata Police Commissioner

Kolkata/IBNS: The Additional Director General (ADG) of West Bengal Special Task Force (STF), 1994 batch IPS officer Vineet Kumar Goyal, has been appointed as the new Commissioner of the Kolkata Police force, officials said on Thursday.

Present Kolkata CP, 1988 batch IPS officer Soumen Mitra, is scheduled to retire from his services on Dec 31 (Friday).

Soumen Mitra has been appointed as the new DG Training OSD (Officer on Special Duty), according to reports.

State government officials said 1993 batch IPS Gyanwant Singh, who is currently serving as the ADG and IGP of WB Criminal Investigation Department (CID), will take additional charge as the ADG of WB STF.

Earlier on Dec 28, West Bengal government appointed 1986 batch IPS Manoj Malaviya as the Director General (DG) of the state police force for a period of two years.
