INS Sudarshini wraps up landmark US tour, heads to Portugal
INS Sudarshini, the Indian Navy's sail training ship, departed Boston, USA, on July 25 as part of its ongoing Lokayan 26 deployment.
During its port call, the ship represented India at the prestigious SAIL 250 celebrations and the International Naval Review 250, showcasing the country's rich maritime heritage while strengthening international maritime partnerships through professional interactions and cultural exchanges.
As part of the SAIL 250 programme, INS Sudarshini participated in events at Norfolk, Baltimore, New York, and Boston, where it hosted dignitaries, members of the Indian diaspora, and delegations from navies around the world.
The engagements reaffirmed India's commitment to promoting maritime cooperation, goodwill, and friendship with partner nations.
According to an official statement, INS Sudarshini has now set sail for Ponta Delgada in the Azores, Portugal, marking the next leg of its overseas deployment.
The Indian Navy said the ship continues to serve as a symbol of India's maritime strength, professionalism, and commitment to fostering global naval cooperation and cultural diplomacy.
