Inmates vandalise jail property in Baramulla

Baramulla, Nov 1 (IBNS): A group of inmates vandalised jail property in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla District jail on Tuesday afternoon.

The inmates also injured a police party which was deputed to the jail for surveillance.

"Some jail inmates created serious problems inside the jail premises on some administrate issue and have attacked the Jail
staff," Assistant Superintendent of Baramulla District jail told media.

He also informed that the jail property including surveillance cameras were damaged.

"Some of the Jail inmates also damaged the wall of the district Jail by removing the bricks for pelting on the police party. They also set on fire the main gate of the Jail which was extinguished with the help of fire services," he added.

Four policemen were injured and two jail inmates also received minor injuries in the said incidents. 

A case, FIR number 347/2016, under different penal sections of RPC has been registered in this regard in police station Baramulla and matter is being investigated.
