India-Uzbekistan nuclear push: Modi announces long-term Uranium supply deal
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced that India and Uzbekistan will establish a long-term arrangement for the supply of uranium, a significant development for New Delhi's nuclear energy ambitions.
Modi made the announcement after holding talks with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his two-day visit to Uzbekistan.
"We will also establish a long-term arrangement for the supply of uranium," Modi said.

The discussions covered a wide range of areas, including trade and investment, infrastructure, critical minerals, mining, defence and security, innovation, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, information technology, digital public infrastructure, including UPI, and education, according to Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.
In a post on X, Jaiswal said the two countries have set a target of achieving $5 billion in bilateral trade by 2030.
The two sides also agreed to elevate their bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, reflecting the expanding scope of cooperation between the two countries, Jaiswal said.
Modi is visiting Uzbekistan on August 29 and 30 at the invitation of Mirziyoyev.
He received a warm welcome from the Uzbek President upon his arrival in Tashkent.
During his visit, Modi also visited the Yangi Uzbekistan Monument, where he laid a wreath in the presence of Mirziyoyev.
