New Delhi/IBNS: India recorded yet another biggest-single day jump after 6,767 new patients of coronavirus were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 1,31,868 including 3,867 deaths, Union Health Ministry informed on Sunday.

This is the third consecutive day that the country reported over 6,000 cases of the highly contagious virus per day.

At least 147 patients died in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra is leading in the number of cases with over 47,190 infections and more than 1,500 fatalities.

In Tamil Nadu, 14,753 cases have been reported including 98 deaths.

This comes a day before the Centre has planned to restart the domestic flight services from Monday after a halt for 2 months.

Several states have raised concern that with the resumption of air travel, there might be a hike in the number of cases.

States like Maharashtra, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu have urged the Civil Aviation Ministry to reconsider the decision and delay the services' resumption until May 31.

Globally, 5.25 million people have been affected by the contagion with more than 339,000 deaths.

The United States is the worst-hit country due to the pandemic with over 1.6 lakh cases and nearly 98,000 deaths.
