Nay Pyi Taw, Nov 12 (IBNS): During the sidelines of 12th India-ASEAN summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a meeting with Nobel laureate and Myanmar's opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

The meeting reportedly took place at the Presidential Suite at Park Royal Hotel.

During the meeting,  Suu Kyi told the Indian PM, "India is my second home".

Prime Minister's Office (PMO) later has quoted Aung saying this on its twitter account.

Modi in return has reportedly called Suu Kyi a 'symbol of democracy' and also said that she will always be welcomed to visit India and that we are willing to host her at an appropriate time, said Syed Akbaruddin, MEA spokesperson .

Suu Kyi had visited India in November 2012. She spent several years in India during her early days when her mother Daw Khin Yi was Ambassador to India.

She studied at the Lady Shriram College in Delhi and also spent some time as a Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Study in Shimla in 1987.

Chairperson and General Secretary of the National League for Democracy, Suu Kyi has been barred from at present due to a provision in the Constitution.
