India faces security challenge due to territorially assertive China: IAF chief

Bangalore, Nov 30 (IBNS): Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, on Saturday expressed concern over India's security challenges due to a "territorially assertive China."
He said Pakistan also poses a security challenge to the country with its constant intrusions.

"We are also having problems in terms of intrusions along the LAC in Leh and Ladakh sectors as well as Arunachal Pradesh. The situation is not very good for the environment there. A peaceful rise of China may remain a distant dream going by its recent actions," he said while addressing the eighth annual Air Chief Marshal L.M. Katre memorial lecture organised by the Aeronautical Society of India and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd.

Raha said China's recent intrusions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) have put India on constant vigil.

The Air Chief said India has no territorial ambition but to recover what has been lost.

"India had no territorial ambition except to recover the land lost due to historical reasons," said he.

He said India has no options but to be prepared for a challenge from China.
