I'm with BJP and will be with BJP, ignore rumours about my party change: Mukul Roy
Kolkata/IBNS: Denying all media reports that he is trying to re-join Trinamool Congress (TMC), senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mukul Roy on Sunday said that he was with BJP and will be with the party as he found a safe future in the Centre's ruling party.
Calling an urgent presser at Salt Lake on Sunday afternoon, Mukul Roy said, "For the past few days I'm noticing that there have been some deceptive media reports that I'm staying aloof from BJP and trying to re-join TMC, which are completely rumourous and baseless."
"I want to make it very clear that I got a lot of respect and admiration from BJP, its senior leaders and Prime Minister Modi, and I was with BJP, I'm with BJP and I will be with the party," Roy told the media.
Days ago, Mukul Roy, along with other Bengal BJP leaders, went to Delhi to hold a series of meetings with senior BJP leaders to chalk out plans for upcoming 2021 assembly polls in the state.
Few popular Bengali newspapers and news channels reported that Mukul Roy returned to Kolkata without taking part in those crucial meetings following a 'dissension' with national and state level leaders, and specially with BJP state president Dilip Ghosh.
They also reported that all flex boards portraying Narendra Modi and Amit Shah's images had been removed from outside Mukul Roy's Delhi residence.
"Before Delhi assembly polls, the Election Commission of India removed all political hoardings and flexes from entire Delhi as well as from outside my residence there," Mukul Roy said on Sunday.
"Months after the election was concluded, the country was hit by Covid-19 and I could not visit my Delhi residence. Thanks for informing me about the flex boards, I have directed the concerned people in Delhi to reset those flexes," Roy added.
Meanwhile, another renowned national news portal published an 'exclusive' report that Mukul Roy was contacting his ex-colleagues since March to rejoin TMC, but the party was not keen to accept him again.
Claiming that the news report was entirely baseless and misleading, Mukul Roy said, "A section of the media is spreading such 'unsubstantial' news reports about me. I came back to Kolkata for my eyes' treatment."
"At a time when West Bengal is witnessing a massive surge in Covid-19 cases and deaths, I unfortunately had no other choice than to call the press conference as I have been receiving a number of calls for last few days from concerned people who are asking me about these rumourous news reports, I am just tired of these," he added.
Roy also claimed that he did not have any disagreement or dissension with either Dilip Ghosh or any other BJP leader.
