If we are fit, India is fit, says Modi in 44th Mann Ki Baat

New Delhi, May 27 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the 44th Mann Ki Baat, his monthly radio broadcast, where he invoked the spirit of 'Fit India' and said people should keep themselves fit for the sake of nation.

Speaking during the address, Modi said: "My dear countrymen, especially my young friends, just a couple of months ago, when I mentioned ‘Fit India’, I did not think it would draw such a good response; that a large number of people would come forward to support it. When I say ‘Fit India’, I believe that the more we play, the more we will inspire the country to come out and play."

Applauding people for sharing videos of Fitness Challenge on social media, the PM said: "Everybody is now getting connected with this Fit India Campaign. People from the film fraternity, from the world of Sports, common citizens of the country, members of the armed forces, school teachers or even those toiling in fields and farms, their rising notes are building up a crescendo ‘Hum Fit toh India Fit’… ‘If we are fit, India is fit’."

Modi said children should devote summer to playing traditional games of India.

"Youngsters can beautifully express themselves through sports. Our traditional games also enhance logical thinking," said he.

The PM urged all to not forget India's heritage.

"Through crowd sourcing, let us make archives of our traditional sports. The youngster generation will gain through this," said he.
