If found guilty, Major Gogoi will be given exemplary punishment: Army chief

New Delhi, May 25 (IBNS): Army Chief Bipin Rawat on Friday said Major Leetul Gogoi will get exemplary punishment if found guilty of being involved in a fracas.

“If anyone in Indian Army, at any rank, does any wrong and it comes to our notice then strictest action will be taken. If Major Gogoi has done something wrong then I can say that immediately he will be given punishment and it will be such that it will set an example,” media reports quoted him as saying.

Major Gogoi had drawn criticism for tying up a civilian to a jeep and making him a shield against stone pelting as he drove through several villages of Budgam last year.

This time, he was involved in a fracas at a Srinagar hotel where he had arrived with a local woman and a man.

According to reports, the  Jammu and Kashmir Police questioned all three regarding the incident.
