IAF AN-32 crashes in Assam, bursts into flames during landing

Jorhat/IBNS: An Indian Air Force (IAF) AN-32 transport aircraft crashed and caught fire at the Air Force Station in Assam's Jorhat on Saturday morning, media reports said.

The accident reportedly occurred while the aircraft was attempting to land within the Air Force Station premises.

Fire Erupts After Crash

The crash triggered a fire, prompting emergency response teams to rush to the spot and launch firefighting operations.

Authorities worked to contain the blaze as smoke billowed from the crash site.

Cause Yet To Be Ascertained

The exact cause of the accident remains unknown.

In a statement posted on X, the Indian Air Force said a detailed investigation would be carried out to determine what led to the crash.

IAF Orders Court Of Inquiry

"A court of inquiry is being constituted, to ascertain the cause of the accident," the IAF said.

The inquiry is expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash and the subsequent fire.
