I shall combat water woes: Narendra Modi

| @indiablooms | May 17, 2019, at 04:48 pm

Khargone, MP, May 17 (UNI) Touching upon a vital natural resource issue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi confidently averred on Friday that during the next half a decade he would make endeavours towards scotching the water crisis that is the bane of a large portion of the country.

Addressing his final election rally in this tribal-dominated constituency in the closing hours of campaigning in these Lok Sabha polls, the visiting politician mentioned the work accomplished in his tenure and central schemes implemented.

Referring to towering socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia, the Premier pointed out that – decades back – the former said that water and toilets for womenfolk comprise the gravest conundrum.

“Dr Lohia broached this matter time and time again with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru but the latter paid no heed. Over the past five years, I conducted a campaign vis-a-vis toilet construction,” Modi said.

Accusing the Congress of deceiving adivasis, he added that he authored a book to indicate the path for tribal welfare and is toiling for enhancing adivasis’ income, farm irrigation, availability of medicine and giving them patient hearings. He recalled tribal martyr Bhima Nayak and said that Madhya Pradesh’s predecessor Bharatiya Janata Party dispensation had a memorial built in the immortal revolutionary’s honour.
