Kolkata, May 24 (IBNS): Bharatiya Janata Party's new MP from West Bengal's Hooghly seat Locket Chatterjee on Friday dedicated her Lok Sabha polls victory to those party workers who sacrificed their lives for the sake of democracy.

West Bengal witnessed violence in all the seven phases of the Lok Sabha polls as well.

Speaking to the media, Locket, who is also a well-known actress in Bengal, said: "I am dedicating this victory to those party workers who have sacrificed their lives for the sake of democracy."

"This is a victory of democracy," she said.

The ruling Trinamool Congress of state CM Mamata Banerjee managed to win 22 seats, down by several seats from the 2014  tally of 34.
