Hyderabad, Sep 19 (IBNS): Hyderabad Police arrested a man and his parents for their alleged involvement in the possible murder of his wife, reports aid.

The deceased has been identified as Harika Kumar, who was thought to have committed suicide after failing to get admission in an MBBS course, but following primary investigation, police said they suspect foul play.

Officials later arrested the woman's husband Rushi Kumar, a software engineer by profession, and his parents.

Rushi on Sunday called Harika's mother to inform her of her daughter's death, but the latter claims that it was a murder.

The mother added that Harika had been subject to torture for the past two years.

"Harika and Rushi got married two years ago. He had been harassing her as she didn't get an MBBS seat. She got (admission in) BDS this year. He also harassed her for dowry... It is a planned murder," NDTV quoted Harika's mother as saying.

Venugopala Rao, ACP of LB Nagar division, said, "Harika's husband claims she committed suicide, but after we visited the scene, it appears to be a murder. We suspect that the man killed his wife."

The ACP added that the exact cause of death will only be known after autopsy.
