Huge cache of arms, ammunition recovered in Mizoram

Guwahati, May 8 (IBNS): Security forces recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition, including two assault rifles, from Aizawl, capital city of Mizoram, on May 7, officials said on Sunday.

According to reports, Assam Rifles, in joint operation along with Mizoram Police, recovered two AK 56 Assault Rifles and 500 rounds of ammunition from the house of Lalrintluanga resident of Laungmual, Aizawl.

An army official said that coming at the heel of recovery of four AK 56 Assault Rifles by 10 Assam Rifles in Hnahlan on May 5, these operations highlight the sustained efforts by Assam Rifles to check illegal movement of weapons from across the border and their synergy with Mizoram Police.
