Himachal Pradesh passes GST amendment bill

Tapovan, Dharamshala, Dec 13 (UNI) The Legislative Assembly of Himachal Pradesh on Friday unanimously passed the Goods & Services Tax Amendment bill 2019 with voice vote.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur who hold the portfolio of Finance presented the legislation to amend the Himachal Pradesh GST Act 2017 to make it more effective, workable and affable.

Speaking on the bill, Chief Minister said that bill proposed to change the few sections of the parent act to provide an alternate composition scheme for suppliers of services or mixed supplies who are not eligible in the earlier composition scheme.

Suppliers having annual turnover Rs 50, lakh per annum would be eligible for the composition schemes. According to the existing provisions, suppliers who are making supplies of good of aggravated annual turnover above Rs 20 lakh have to register for GST registration with existing provisions now being exempted upto Rs 50 lakh.

A provisions are also being made that a class of suppliers shall mandatory offer the facility of digital payments to the recipients.

Some amendments are also being made with regard to the provisions of filling various returns under the Act to make this more practice and convenient.

The bill was passed without any discussions by voice vote unanimously.
