Haryana Vidhan Sabha passes Guest Teacher Service Bill

| @indiablooms | Feb 27, 2019, at 08:48 pm

Chandigarh, Feb 27 (UNI) Haryana Vidhan Sabha passed the 'Haryana Guest Teacher Service Bill, 2019', presented by Parliamentary Affairs and Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma, with majority vote on Wednesday.

Sharma said that although about 22,000 guest teachers, including JBT, TGT and PGT teachers were appointed during the tenure of Congress government in 2014, yet the present government has passed the Bill in favour of these teachers, without any discrimination.

He said these guest teachers were earlier paid on lecture basis, but the present government has increased their wages by 25 per cent in September 2018. He said that earlier JBT and Drawing Teachers used to get Rs 21,715 and now they will get Rs 26,000 per month. TGT will get Rs 30,000 instead of Rs 24,001 and PGT and Lecturer will get monthly salary of Rs 36,000 instead of Rs 29,715.

The Minister said that now, the wages of guest teachers will be increased twice a year, that is, on January 1 and on July 1.

He said though the court had ordered to remove these guest teachers, but the present government has not only saved their job by giving an affidavit in favour of these guest teachers, but also increased their salaries.

The guest teachers thanked Sharma, who encouraged them to teach children with full sincerity.
